The Mega Buck$ Lottery
Version 1.2
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
an IGM for Seth Able's LORD
Written In TP 7
Using the DDPlus package
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Technical Instructions (docs)
[legal stuff]
I own this. (uhh, copyright 1996 Illusion Software).
If you use this software, you do so at your own risk. I've spent several
versions testing it and retesting it. Works great on my board. Seems to
be completely flawless. If you have problems at all with it, you can
either contact me at the given places, or just delete the thing completely
from your system. What did you expect? It's almost freeware.
In any case, if it breaks, it's not my legal responsibility. The only thing
this IGM is guaranteed to do is take up space on your drive. Period.
[end of legal stuff]
-What is it?-
It's an IGM for LORD. Whoa, major information there.
-What do I do?-
UPGRADING FROM A PREVIOUS VERSION
Delete everything. See below for reinstalling. :/
NEW INSTALLATION
Unzip it into it's own directory, run the CONFIG program, and follow
the instructions. If it screws up, you did something wrong. :)
YOU MUST RUN THE CONFIG.EXE PROGRAM BEFORE ANYTHING WILL WORK!
AND DON'T RUN THE CONFIG PROGRAM WHILE THE IGM IS IN USE!
Very little explanation needed for the config proggie. Read the
options and fill in the blanks as neccessary. If you aren't
registered, don't worry about anything except filling in the
paths to LORD and to the Lottery. The rest will reset to defaults
without a valid reg code.
-What should be in the Archive?-
Well, if you have the original archive this is the list in it:
CONFIG.EXE - The configuration program.
LOTTERY.EXE - The main executable. The actual IGM.
LOTTERY.ANS - The Title Screen.
This can be editted if you REALLY must.
But I would prefer you to leave it as is.
If you change it at all, you must leave the
text information in it somewhere. Otherwise
my lawyer will kick in your door and beat up
someone. And he would too. Mean SOB.
LOTTERY.DOC - You're Reading This One.
WHATS.NEW - Update information, bugfix listing.
FILE_ID.DIZ - Description for your bbs file lists.
and these files are created after the config program has been run and
the IGM has been used once.
DRAW.DAT - Keeps track of what day it is, and if a
draw needs to be done.
LOTTERY.DAT - This is the config file. Has lots of stuff
in it relating to the operation of the igm.
-What does it cost?-
Well, nothing really. It's donationware. If you really like it,
send me something I can use. Money is the prefered choice. The
IGM works fine without registration, but there are limitations to
it. Nothing major. The number of tickets available per day is only
25 in the unregistered version. This means that only 25 of your
users will be able to participate per day. No big deal if you don't
have more than 25 users in LORD at one time who want to get in on
the money. The other limitation is the prize is fixed at 1 million
dollars initially. With registration you can change it to whatever
you like. Oh yeah, one final limitation is the price of the tickets.
If you don't register it, the price is fixed at 25,000 gold per ticket.
-So it's a FREEWARE IGM?-
No, it's DONATIONWARE. Like I said above, if you really like this
IGM and plan to keep it around for a while, send me something. Send
an international postage coupon for the appropriate amount (whatever
it would cost ME to send YOU a letter) and I'll send you a reg code.
Send me cash, and I'll crash mail the code to you. Send me a huge pile
of 5 dollar bills and I'll deliver the code in person. Huge being a
relative term, somewhere in the neighborhood of ten feet tall would
be good. Anyways, play with the IGM and if you like it, help out
with my caffiene addiction. Send me a case of pepsi. Send whatever
you want to, we'll deal with it.
-How do I find you?-
Uhh, why? Did it melt your machine? Did it blow up your hardware?
Or do you want to pile heaps of gratitude upon me for such a simple
but useful IGM? If you MUST reach me, see the contacts list at the
bottom of this file. If it's concerning the first two options, see
the legal thingy up top.
-Why are these docs like this?-
I hate writing doc files. I despise explaining the way things work
to people. I know how it works, because I made it. But try writing
something like this, and then explaining it to the world at large.
Not easy to do.
-Okay, so how *DO* I contact you?-
Alright, if you must contact me do so as indicated below:
[ Snail Mail: ]
Chris Carson - Illusion Software
1 - 4604 Hammond Bay Road
Nanaimo, BC
Canada

[ Internet Email ]
Bolan@fmlyrsch.org
(if you get the mail back, I've changed providers)
[ Fido Netmail ]

Shattered Illusions

You can also try posting me in the LORD and LORD_SYSOP (echo tags I think)
Fido echoes, and if the message makes it through all the routing points,
I'll be sure to get back to you asap. You could also call my board, but
I'd recommend against this for now. If interest shows up for this option,
I'll setup a guest account. But for now stick to the above methods.
-Will you write me a custom IGM?-
If you want something specific for your LORD game, I'll do it.
And it might be freeware. If you really do want something for
your board, drop me a note at one of the above places and I'll
get back to you on it. I'm always willing to write some code.
NO cracks, hacks, patches etc etc. I'm not a hacker. I have
no desire to start now. For some strange reason, I have an
aversion to losing my equipment to the SPA. Call me weird, but
I believe in shareware, and don't like to see cracked versions
of stuff floating around.
Thanks go to these guys:
Steve Lorenz, Bob Dalton, and Scott Baker for the DDPlus Package. Kudos.
Seth Able Robinson for his great and long lived doorgame LORD. more kudos.
Joseph Masters for the view of his Aratime source codes. big help dude.
And once again, thanks to Pepsi. 4 to 6 weeks my butt. sigh....
Anyone else I forgot, I'm sure I didn't mean to leave you out. Give yourself
a pat on the back for me. And make sure you send me a note giving me hell.
Include any copyright info I left out......
*** gee these docs look similar to the docs for Chance's Cafe (another of
my creations). I need to get an assistant to write docs. I hate 'em.
